The project began with a small existing stone cottage sited on a steep hill overlooking the Potomac River and the C&O Canal. The lower level contains an in-law suite with direct access to the outside. A new entry and grand stair was created at the mid level along with a master bedroom suite complete with an adjacent porch and surrounded by gardens. To maximize the views of the river and canal the upper level was transformed into the new living room, dining room, and kitchen.
